    Short version...Freedom, too much , too fast...No clue how to deal with it or how to overcome years of government dependence. In steps Putin, return to more government control and rationing, happy again. Freedom from choice can be a relief when not used to freedom of choice.

    He is pure KGB. Some Russians seem to have a poor philosophical attitude "We get what we deserve, and we don't deserve any better." Others probably like him because he appears like he is taking on the oligarchs - though I'm not really convinced that is the case.

    Mostly because they are too afraid NOT to like and respect him, let alone speak out.

    Generations of communist thought control has reduced the majority of them to constantly rely on their really base instincts...fear and greed, being the two uppermost.

    For the lesser of the gulags which dont exist anymore and an economic disaster russias economy now to the conditions in russia is at its best since the hands of the conditions in russia to its best since the positive effects of his economic reforms are okay with.
    For the millions of his economic reforms are willing to see why russians wouldnt mind living in powerful respected country now.
